BOI Investment Incentives in Thailand: A Breakdown of Promotion Benefits
In March 2025, the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) reaffirmed the wide-ranging incentives available to businesses that meet its promotion criteria. These BOI investment incentives are designed to attract both foreign and local investors, drive industrial development, and enhance the country’s economic competitiveness. The incentives fall under two main categories: tax incentives and non-tax incentives.

Tax Incentives
BOI-promoted companies may be eligible for the following tax benefits, depending on the activity and compliance with conditions outlined in their promotion certificate:
- Exemption or Reduction of Import Duties on Machinery (Sections 28/29)
Reduction of Import Duties on Raw or Essential Materials (Section 30)
Exemption of Import Duties on Materials Used for R&D (Section 30/1)
Exemption of Corporate Income Tax on Net Profits and Dividends from Promoted Activities (Sections 31, 31/1, 34)
50% Reduction in Corporate Income Tax (Section 35(1))
Double Deduction of Transportation, Electricity, and Water Costs (Section 35(2))
Additional 25% Deduction for Installation or Construction Costs (Section 35(3))
Import Duty Exemption for Materials Used in Production for Export (Section 36)
Non-Tax Incentives
To support ease of doing business and foreign participation, the BOI also offers the following non-tax privileges:
- Permit for Foreign Nationals to Enter Thailand for Investment Exploration (Section 24)
Permit to Bring in Skilled Workers and Foreign Experts (Sections 25 & 26)
Permit for Land Ownership for Approved Projects (Section 27)
Permission to Remit Funds Abroad in Foreign Currency (Section 37)
